Week of January 30th

The first semester is behind us and we are excited to celebrate our students' accomplishments.  To that end, all students who earned a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and their families are cordially invited to Honor Roll Recognition Night on Thursday from 6:15-7:15 in the LMS gym.  Students who had perfect first semester attendance will also be recognized.  Students who made either the 3.5 or 4.0 honor rolls will receive a certificate and students who earned a 4.0 and had perfect first semester attendance will receive special recognition.

There will be light refreshments available in the cafeteria after students are recognized.  If you are unsure if your student made the first semester honor roll, students' GPAs can be found on their report cards that were mailed out last Wednesday and on PowerSchool.  We hope to see many of you this Thursday at Honor Roll Night. We are looking forward to celebrating our students.  We have also set an attendance goal to start the second semester off on the right foot.  All students how miss one day or less between 1/24 and 2/22 will receive a prize. Please watch the video below to learn more about Honor Roll Recognition Night.

It's a great time of year to focus on kindness.  Children learn new behaviors by copying those around them; we have a powerful opportunity and responsibility to teach kindness by example.  Model kindness and empower your student to show compassion to those around them.  One way to do this is by having each family member make and decorate their own “Affirmation Box” or bag to display in a central location in your home this month. At least three times a week, write a family member an affirmation and place it in their box. On the last day of the month, ask everyone to read their affirmations.  You can read more about kindness in the February CKH newsletter.  You can also take the 28 days of kindness challenge.
