Week of May 11

Thank you to everyone who supported the Hapi-ness 5K last Saturday.  The turnout was amazing and we appear to be on track to eclipse our fundraising goals.  You can see the results from the race by clicking this link.  We are thrilled at the level of support we will be able to provide the Bowlds family as well as others in need in our community.  Thank you for your generosity.

The final Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting of this school year was rescheduled for Tuesday at 6:00 pm in the LMS library.  We will be planning for the 8th grade ice cream social and the coming school year.  All current, and future LMS caregivers are encouraged to attend. The PAC is a great vehicle for two-way communication and for providing input on our school. We hope to see many of you tonight.

Our students have the opportunity to participate in the Wyoming Prevention Needs Assessment on May 21st.  The PNA gathers information from Wyoming young people about their substance use, mental health, and wellness to help schools, administrators, and policy makers better understand the young people in their communities.  You can view a sample survey by clicking here.  If you do not want your student to participate in the survey, please complete this opt out form and return it to the school.  Copies of the opt out form and a copy of the sample survey can also be found in the LMS attendance office.

We will be transitioning from Remind to ParentSquare starting in the 2026-2027 school year.  ParentSquare purchased Remind so we will not be able to use it after this summer.  For the remainder of this school year, we will send out the community communication through both Remind and ParentSquare. Since ParentSquare syncs with PowerSchool like Remind does, you can download the app or go to the ParentSquare website to claim your account.  We hope that by starting this transition early, everyone will be connected to ParentSquare when we start school next August. Please visit this link to learn more about ParentSquare.

Let’s keep the good times rolling and finish the school year on a high note.  Don’t count the days, make the days count!  Make it a great week.

Week of May 4

May the 4th be with you as we begin another week in our sprint to the end of this school season.  This week is extra special because it’s Teacher Appreciation Week. We are fortunate to have an amazing group of educators in our school.  They work hard each and every day to ensure our students have the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to be successful on the next step on their educational journey.  When you bump into a teacher this week, please let them know how much you appreciate them.  After all, you’re reading this because of a teacher.

You can also show your appreciation for our teachers by joining the LMS Parent Advisory Council (PAC) in showing our staff how much we appreciate them. They will be hosting a breakfast on Wednesday, May 6, and a Snack Day on Thursday, May 7. If you are able to contribute, please use the SignUpGenius links below to sign up for specific items. Alternatively, if you prefer to make a monetary donation, you may do so via this Venmo link.Thank you for your continued support in celebrating our deserving teachers and staff.

The 41st Annual Hapi-ness 5K is Saturday at 8:00 am.  The Hapi-ness was started to honor Hapi Patterson, a Laramie Junior High student who was fighting cancer. Each year the proceeds from the Hapi-ness are used to support families in need. This year’s race will support Brody Bowlds, an 8th grade student who is battling acute myeloid leukemia.  Please watch this video to learn more about this year’s race and use this link to sign up.

You can run, jog, or walk the 5K, just be there.  In addition to participating, students can also support the Hapi-ness by paying $1 or more to wear a hat on Tuesday.  Families can support the Hapi-ness through Do Good with Chipotle between 4-8 pm on Wednesday. Order online using code YFJB7PT or show them a screenshot of this flyer in the restaurant and 25% of event sales will be donated.  You can also participate in Crunch for a Cause at Taco Johns on Friday.   We are hoping to set a new fundraising record in support of Brody and others in need in our community and we need your support to make that happen. Please sign up by Friday in order to get a t-shirt on race day.

The final Parent Advisory Committee meeting of the year is on Tuesday at 6:00 pm in the LMS library.  We will be planning for the 8th grade ice cream social and the coming school year.  All current, and future LMS caregivers are encouraged to attend.  In honor of Cinco de Mayo, we will be serving chips and salsa at this month’s meeting. We hope to see you there.

There is so much to celebrate this week. Thank you for being a part of our school.  We appreciate your continued feedback and support.  Make it a great week.
