Happy New Year! We are very excited to have our students back in the building. The energy in our hallways and classrooms is infectious. Hopefully everyone had a safe and warm winter break and is ready to begin the final push to the end of the first semester. The semester ends on Friday, January 20th. Students must have all first semester assignments and activities completed by the end of the day on the 20th. Teachers are available to assist students every day after school in Scout Learning Lab and there is a late bus available. Let's work together to finish the semester on a high note.
Students and families can view second semester schedules in PowerSchool. Students will receive a hard copy of their second semester schedule in S4S on the 17th. If a student wants to request a schedule change, they can use this link which can also be found on their S4S Canvas page. A counselor will evaluate each request and make a change if possible. We strive to grant every schedule change request, but it's not always possible. Requests based on teacher preference, or wanting to be with a friend, are not granted.
The new year is a time to refocus, reflect and set goals. There are some great resources to support these endeavors in this month's CKH newsletter focusing on respect. Respect comes in many forms: respect for life, for property, for parents, for elders, for nature, and for the beliefs and rights of others. Respect includes being courteous and polite, as well as respecting yourself by avoiding self-criticism. We can model respect for our each other through how we speak to and treat others. Respect is not only an important character trait, but it can also be a source of real joy! Respect implies a certain appreciation, which makes us more aware of other people’s needs and feelings. Help us sustain a culture of respect and belonging at LMS this month by supporting our focus on respect.
The days are finally getting longer as the semester continues to get shorter. Thank you for your support and feedback up to this point in the year. It takes a team for a school to be successful and we're thankful that you are part of our team.
