This month, we’re focusing on respect, which comes in many forms: respect for life, for property, for parents, for elders, for nature, and for the beliefs and rights of others. Respect includes being courteous and polite, as well as respecting yourself by avoiding self-criticism. Respect implies a certain appreciation, which makes us more aware of other people’s needs and feelings. One way to show respect is to celebrate members of your community who lead through service to others. Write “Thank You” notes to someone that has helped or served your family. Consider people in your community like veterans, teachers,nurses/doctors, ministers, bus drivers, police officers, firefighters, mailcarriers, etc. Read more about respect in this month’s CKH newsletter.
The first semester ends on Friday, January 23rd which is a half day so all students will be dismissed at 11:30. Lunch will not be served. Students have until 11:30 on the 23rd to hand in any missing assignments. Report cards will be available in Powerschool at 3:00 on Wednesday, January, 28th. Please encourage your student to stay on top of their classes and to utilize Scout Learning Lab if they need extra time and support. Let’s finish the semester strong!
We are fortunate to be a part of a successful and caring school community. Please take a minute to recognize someone who has made a difference for your student by using this link to nominate them for a Difference Maker Award in recognition of their exceptional performance. Awards are given to recipients in their staff mailboxes. It only takes a few moments to really make someone’s day.
The Wyoming Cowboys basketball team is taking on the San Diego State Aztecs on Wednesday at 6:00 PM. Any student can show their student ID at the ticketing office on gameday to receive a free General Admission ticket to sit in the student section (sections B-C in the AA). Families who would like to purchase tickets in advance, can take advantage of the Student For A Game Promotion. This $15 ticket includes: one general admission game ticket for the student section (sections B-C), a free Pepsi product (received on gameday), and a promotional giveaway (received on gameday). If you’re looking for a fun family outing on Wednesday, please go support the Pokes!
Students can see their second semester schedules in PowerSchool. If they would like to request a schedule change, the links to do so are live. It’s best to request a schedule change before the second semester starts so students’ schedules are correct from the beginning. We do our best to grant schedule change requests, but it’s not always possible. Please remember we do not grant schedule change requests based on teacher preference, wanting to be with friends, or time of day preference.
