The second semester is underway. Thank you for supporting your student and our school during the first half of this school season. Your encouragement and feedback helped make our first semester successful. Report cards will be available in PowerSchool at 3:00 on Wednesday. Please review them with your student to identify areas of celebration and areas of growth. Take a look at your students’ tardies and absences during the first semester. Our attendance goal for the school year is 95%. We are tracking just under that goal right now at 94%. Please work with your student to miss 4 or less school days during the second semester. Doing so will help us reach our goal. Being here every day, ready to learn makes a huge difference in your student’s achievement.
Honor Roll Night is Thursday, February 5th, from 6:30–7:30 PM in the LMS gym. This evening is a meaningful opportunity to celebrate our students and recognize the growth, effort, and character they’ve shown throughout the semester. If your student earned a 3.5 or above GPA during the first semester, they will be recognized at Honor Roll Night. We hope to see you there!
Family Fitness Night is Thursday, February 12th from 5:30-7:00 in the LMS cafeteria and gym. There will be a variety of healthy activities to participate in, healthy snacks, and a large number of organizations sharing information about healthy activities in our community. All LMS students and their families are encouraged to attend Family Fitness Night.
We are fortunate to be a part of a successful and caring school community. Please take a minute to recognize someone who has made a difference for your student by using this link to nominate them for a Difference Maker Award in recognition of their exceptional performance. Awards are given to recipients in their staff mailboxes. It only takes a few moments to really make someone’s day.
Our school has been selected to participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) test on Monday, March 2,2026. NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students know and can do in various subjects. NAEP is administered by the National Center for Education Statistics, within the U.S. Department ofEducation. NAEP is different from our state assessments because it is a common measure of achievement across the country. Randomly selected 8th grade students will take a mathematics or reading assessment. In addition to subject-area questions, students voluntarily complete NAEP survey questions. The assessment takes about 120 minutes for most students, which includes transition time, directions, and completion of survey questions. The information collected is used for statistical purposes only. Your child’s grades will not be affected. You can learn more about NAEP testing by reading this letter. If you do not wish for your student to participate in NAEP testing, please notify Kevin O’Dea in writing by Monday, February 23rd.
Students can request a schedule change through the end of the day on Friday using the forms below. Our schedule is pretty tight so we may not be able to grant all schedule change requests but we will do our best. Please remember we do not grant schedule change requests based on teacher preference, wanting to be with friends, or time of day preference.

We are already halfway through the school year! If we continue to communicate and support each other, our second semester will be even better than the first. Make it a great week!
