Week of January 5

Happy New Year! The start of the year is a great time for reflection and celebration. We have had a great first “half” of the school year.  Thank you for your feedback, support, and participation.  An area that has not been great is attendance.  So far this year our attendance rate is 3% lower than last year.  While it is inevitable that students will miss school due to illness and other obligations, a 3% increase in absenteeism represents an additional 1373 days of school missed compared to the same period last year.  This does not include absences related to school activities.  Please do whatever you can to get your student to school on time, every day.  It matters and it makes a difference.

Periodically we solicit feedback to monitor and improve our practice.  I know that the number of surveys we send out can be a bit overwhelming, but the information we get back is very helpful.  Please use the link below to complete a survey about our school.  Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

The first semester ends on Friday, January 23rd, which is half day for students. So while winter break feels like the halfway point of the school year, we have a good chunk of the first semester to finish up. Please encourage your student to stay on top of their classes and to utilize Scout Learning Lab if they need extra time and support.

Students can see their second semester schedules in PowerSchool.  If they would like to request a schedule change, the links to do so are live. It’s best to request a schedule change before the second semester starts so students’ schedules are correct from the beginning. We do our best to grant schedule change requests, but it’s not always possible.  Please remember we do not grant schedule change requests based on teacher preference, wanting to be with friends, or time of day preference.

The new year is blasting off with the start of boys basketball, girls wrestling, and nordic skiing getting out on the trails.  Let’s work together to make 2026 our best year yet.  Make it a great week!
