The first semester is complete! We appreciate all of the hard work students put in during the first half of the year and we are grateful for the support our families gave them. Report cards will be available in PowerSchool on Wednesday. We will recognize our students for their first semester accomplishments during our Honor Roll Recognition on February 6.
Our professional development time was well spent on Monday. We worked on curriculum, prepared for state testing, evaluated our district strategic plan, and prepared for the second semester. On Monday we also remember the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King was an amazing man who made a difference for our country.
Students received a hard copy of their second semester schedules in S4S last Wednesday. If they are interested in a second semester schedule change, the schedule change request form can be found on the Counseling Canvas Page. We will do our best to honor all schedule change requests, but we may not be able to accommodate all requests. Please remember we do not make schedule changes related to teacher choice, preferred time of day for a class, or to put students in classes with their friends. Our schedule this week is no school, odd, even, all, all.
The weather this week is far from ideal. Please encourage your students to dress appropriately. We realize that coats are cringe and that shorts are considered appropriate for any day of the year, but the extreme wind chills we are experiencing this week can be dangerous. Many of our students travel on the bus to and from school and for activities. Our transportation department does an excellent job of keeping our buses moving, but it’s always possible to get stuck due to an accident, road closure, or mechanical failure. Being dressed for the weather helps our students stay safe during any unforeseen situations.
Our January Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting is on Tuesday night at 6:00 pm in the LMS library. All LMS caregivers are encouraged to attend. PAC meetings are a great time to learn about what is happening at LMS, share ideas, and provide feedback. We hope to see many of you there.
The halfway point in this school season has come and gone. Starting strong is very important, but it’s how you finish that makes a difference and our second semester is going to be even better than our first. Please work with your students to make the start of this semester successful. It’s far easier to stay on top of things than it is to get caught up. Everyone has a 4.0 right now. Let’s work together to help our students keep it that way. Make it a great week.
