Week of May 13

We are pleased to announce that Laramie Middle School has been named a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School for the third year in a row!  The Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase Schools Award recognizes and celebrates schools producing exemplary outcomes using the Capturing Kids' Hearts Process. Award winners demonstrate a high level of performance and a positive culture and climate for learning.  CKH tools are an important part of our integrated effort to create and sustain a culture of respect and belonging for students, staff, and families.  Thank you for contributing to our positive school culture.

Yearbooks will be distributed during lunch on Monday.  If you did not preorder a yearbook, there are approximately 30 copies available on a first come, first served basis for $40. Come by the school starting on Tuesday to purchase your copy.  Don’t miss out on your chance to own an award-winning piece of history.

The 39th annual Hapi-ness 5K  will be held on Saturday. This event was created in 1987 to raise money for Hapi Patterson, a student who unfortunately passed away that year from Leukemia.  Each year the Hapi-ness raises money for families confronted by financial and medical hardships.  This year’s goal is to raise $17,000 to support Wyatt Haas, a student from Harmony Elementary school, who has been diagnosed with Medulloblastoma. Registration information can be found on the LMS website or picked up at our school.  You can also sign up on race day. We’ll see you this Saturday!

We are moving quickly towards the end of the school year.  Our last day with students is June 4th.  Students are responsible for all activities and assignments through the end of the year.  If a student is planning to be absent during the last part of this school season, they should work with their teachers to complete things in advance or when they return.  Anything that is not completed will be calculated as a zero. Please keep sending your student to school, ready to learn each day through the last day. It matters.

Our 8th grade cooking classes completed their cake decorating contest last week.  There were many great cakes.  The cakes below are our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.  Congratulations to: 1st Place: "Duck Island" created by: Carly Siuda, Kylee Kubert, Claira Howell & Sariah Canen, 2nd Place: "Jordan Ones" created by: Aubrey St. Louis & Rooshna Jefferson, and 3rd Place: "Sushi" created by: Jovee Stender, Blaire Hauser & Camilla Barrios.
