Week of August 25

The day we have all been waiting for is finally here!  Tuesday is the first day for students and it is a half day..  Our doors open at 7:30 and class begins at 8:00.  Students will be with their Scouts for Scouts (S4S) teachers until they are dismissed at 11:30.  Students will be learning about middle school and building community. If students do not remember who their S4S teacher is, counselors will be in the cafeteria in the morning to remind them.  All students will receive a copy of their schedule in S4S on Tuesday. On half days, breakfast is available, but lunch  is not.  Students must be off campus by 11:45.  Wednesday, August 27th is our first full day of school.  Our doors open at 7:30 and students are dismissed at 3:05.  On full days, students must be off campus by 3:15 unless they are participating in a school sponsored activity.

Our school will be open for a no-host open house on Monday from 3:30-5:30.  This is a time for students to put things in their lockers if they wish and to walk their schedule.  We will email locker assignments and combinations to families on Monday. Teachers and staff will not be available to meet with families or answer questions at no-host open house. You will get a chance to meet your student's teachers at Back to School Night on September 2nd.

Schedules are pretty tight, but students can request a schedule change using the appropriate link (6th grade form, 7th grade form, 8th grade form).  Our counselors will do their best to accommodate schedule change requests.  Please note we do not grant schedule change requests based on teacher preference, time of day preference, or so students can be in class with their friends.

Practices for fall activities have begun.  Our football, volleyball, and cross country teams compete during the fall season.  Students must have a completed sports physical and a signed code of conduct on file in order to practice or compete.  Families can drop off completed activity paperwork at the LMS main office.  Students can still join a fall sport. Interested students should stop by the main office to sign up. Students must complete nine practices before they can compete.

Beginning this year, ACSD#1 will provide a free breakfast and lunch meal to all students who attend an ACSD#1 school. To maintain this valuable service, it is essential for eligible parents to submit a Free and Reduced Lunch application. By submitting the application, families can ensure that the school district receives adequate funding to support this vital initiative. The application process is straightforward and confidential, and assistance is available for those who need help completing it. We appreciate everyone taking the time to help support our initiative in providing nutritious meals free of charge for our students.

Students will receive their Chromebooks on Tuesday if their annual online registration has been completed.  At the middle school students take their Chromebooks and chargers home with them.  All families in our district must complete the Annual Online Registration every year in PowerSchool.  This is how you update your contact information, give permission for your student to travel for school activities, grant your student permission to use technology, etc. Instructions for annual online registration and the link are on our district website under Student & Family Resources and then under the section Student Enrollment. If you have forgotten your PowerSchool login credentials, there is a link on the PowerSchool Parent Portal login screen you can click that says “Forgot Username or Password” to recover your login information.

Tuesday, September 9th is a big day at LMS.  For starters, it is picture day.  We do not distribute picture packets at LMS.  Please go to mylifetouch.com and enter our picture day ID (EVTPSCB3C) to order pictures.  All students will have their pictures taken on picture day.  The 9th is also the day of our back to school dance from 3:05-5:00 in the main gym.  All LMS students are encouraged to attend dances. Admission is $5.00 and concessions are available.  Students attending the dance must be picked up by 5:15. We hope to see all of our students shaking a leg on the 9th.

While we enjoy summer break, Tuesday is truly one of the best days of the year.  All of our teachers, paraeducators, bus drivers, specialists, and other staff have been eagerly awaiting our students’ return.  Thank you for sharing them with us.  We are honored to work with you in support of their growth and learning. Please keep an eye on our webpage, Facebook page, and blog to stay informed about LMS happenings. Make it a great week.

7th and 8th Grade Back to School 2025

The 2025-2026 school season is just around the corner.  We are working hard to prepare for the upcoming year and the return of our students.  Each spring, returning members of our student body select a theme for the coming school year. Our theme frames our collective work and guides the fulfillment of our mission and vision.  The theme chosen for this school year is: “Rise Up, Stand Out, Be a Scout”   Middle school is not a time to survive, it is a time to thrive.  We are all expected to rise up and get better each and every day.  We stand out by doing not what is easy, but rather what is right.  To be a Scout means that you give your best effort in all endeavors, that you are there for your classmates, your family, and our school.  Being a Scout means doing the right thing when no one is watching.  By rising up, standing out, and living the Scout journey we will all grow during this school season.

Student schedules will go live in PowerSchool on Monday, August 18th.  Students will get a hard copy of their schedule on the first day from their Scouts for Scouts (S4S) teacher.  Students will be able to request schedule changes using the schedule change request form that will be posted on our website on the 18th.  Counselors will be available in the cafeteria on the first day if students forget who their S4S teachers are.
